Scope and Content Note

The series contains records relating to the administration and governance of the court and its courthouses, particularly Judge Tuttle’s functional relationship to the 5th/11th Circuit Court. Present here are calendars, communications with court administrators, 11th Circuit Historical Society files, and personnel files for Tuttle’s law clerks. There are records documenting Tuttle’s participation on judicial committees, notably the Advisory Committee on Civil Rules, 1971-1978, Advisory Committee on Judicial Activities, 1970-1979, Committee on Court Administration, 1973-1977, and the Joint Committee on Judicial Ethics, 1971-1979. Also included are advisory opinions issued by the Advisory Committee on Judicial Activities in response to ethical queries of various federal judges and magistrates from 1970-1979 and Chief Judge’s files, including records of matters involving Tuttle in his capacity as administrative overseer of the various judges and clerks within the 5th Circuit from 1960-1967.
