Scope and Content Note

The series includes material related to C.T. Vivian's professional activity from 1965-2011. Materials consist of meeting minutes, memoranda, correspondence, and printed material. There are also several folders of writings by C.T. Vivian. Major topics covered in the series include the National Anti-Klan Network (which later was renamed the Center for Democratic Renewal), the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Holiday Commission, and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). Much of the series has to do with memory and memorialization of the Civil Rights Movement.
