Scope and Content Note
The series consists of George Walker's personal and professional papers from 1945-2008 and includes certificates and awards, diplomas and honorary degrees, photographs, and writings by Walker. Photographs are primarily of events, including celebrations of Walker's 1996 Pulitzer Prize. Writings by Walker contain lectures delivered in classes or at invited speaking engagements. Lectures cover topics, such as Walker's career and inspiration, the work of composing, the history of classical music, and the history of African American music.
