Biographical Note
Robert Foster Williamson (1840-1915) was born in Pike County (Ga.). He was licensed to preach in 1859 and was for many years an itinerate minister in the Georgia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
Scope and Content Note
The collection consists of papers of Robert Foster Williamson from 1826-1934. The papers include family documents consisting of a will; deeds (1826-1898, 1903-1930) primarily for property in Schley County (Ga.); and bonds. Also includes notes pertaining to genealogy; brief historical accounts of Red Oak Methodist Church and Williamson Methodist Church in Williamson's diary. The first part of the diary recounts years from 1846-March 1861, followed by daily entries from March 14, 1861-April 17, 1862. The daily entries reflect Williamson's social life and activities as a minister in the Georgia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Typewritten manuscript of diary available.
