The collection contains items that were part of the "Carl Van Vechten: American Portraitist" exhibition curated by Deborah Willis at the "African Americans and Europe" conference in 1992. Materials include exhibit text written by Deborah Willis and Nathan Huggins and 25 Carl Van Vechten photographs. The photographs are copies from original negatives held at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
