Scope and Content Note
The subseries consists of correspondence and other materials relating to Robert W. Woodruff and his family from 1857-1912. This subseries contains early correspondence to Robert W. Woodruff from his parents and grandparents, as well as school friends and cousins. It also includes several of Woodruff's school assignments from the Edgewood Avenue School and the Georgia Military Academy.
Other family correspondence consists of letters from Robert Winship to his wife Mary Frances Winship while serving in the Georgia State Guards near Guyton, Georgia during the Civil War in 1864. There is also three letters from Nicholas and Mary Overby of Anderson, South Carolina to their children in 1864.
